Museums
The History and Tourism Center at Shenandoah University. The Knowledge Point serves as the primary resource and authority for history, heritage studies and tourism development, where the community and the tourism industry come together to gain knowledge about the lower Shenandoah Valley. The center is located at 20 S. Cameron St. in Winchester and features a walk-in vistor's center in partnership with the Shenandoah Battlefield Foundation. The visitor's center serves in partnership with area tourism and museums to help facilitate visitors' understanding of the devotion and sentiments of the people of the Shenandoah Valley, who lived in the area from pre-Revolutionary to modern times. An interactive kiosk, along with literature and a professional staff, provide information and directions to various historic and tourism sites and battlefields throughout the region. The center includes a research library, a small conference facility for heritage workshops and seminars, and offices for the McCormick Civil War Institute, The Willa Cather Institute and the Community History Project.
